I got to photograph another wedding recently at one of my favorite wedding venues in Temecula, Lake Oak Meadows! Afton and John originally had their wedding planned for May of 2020, but of course had to reschedule. They did actually say “I do” on their original date with a small ceremony, and then celebrated with friends and family at Lake Oak Meadows later on. They were such troopers dealing with COVID, and I think the universe knew that – it was cloudy all day at their wedding but the rain held off!

Lake Oak Meadows: one of the best Temecula wedding venues

Lake Oak Meadows is in the Temecula Wine Country and is such a gorgeous venue no matter what type of wedding you’re having.

Here are some basics you should know if you’re considering getting married at Lake Oak Meadows:

• Catering: you have to use their in-house caterer
• DJ: you have to use their in-house DJ
• Booking: $500 to book your date
• Pricing + packages: contact them for details through their site
• Environment: the venue is outdoors, but if it’s raining, they offer a tent you can rent at an additional charge. The tent is complimentary from December through February!

Fun Wedding Dessert Tips & Ideas

Afton and John had some super fun wedding desserts, including cake, cupcakes, donuts, AND candy. So I thought it would be fun to include some dessert ideas for you for your wedding, whether or not you want to have a “traditional” wedding cake!

You can really have anything you want at your wedding, but here are a few options!

Wedding cake, duh!

This is the most traditional but definitely not the only option these days! Some couples have a multi-layered cake, and some just have a one tier cake to cut into for the photos. Either way, find your fave flavors and make it happen!

Cupcakes!

Cupcakes provide a super easy way to let guests choose their flavor. You don’t usually waste as much cake with cupcakes, either, because your guests can just come up and grab them as they please.

Donut bar!!!

You can order donuts and have them displayed, easy. OR you can hire the company that Afton & John did, @gourmet_mini_donuts, and have mini donuts be made right then and there!! You’ll get fresh, hot donuts and your guests get to choose all the toppings they want! I had never seen anything like this until their wedding, and I was obsessed!! Everyone was going crazy for these and I hope more people go this route (totally selfish😜).

Dessert bar!

You can have cookies, brownies, and all of your favorite candy! This is another great way to let your guests choose what they want. It’s also a good way to not waste as much food or money. Your planner will refill jars of candy that people are loving and save the others for you to take home that may not be the favorites of the night.
